As usual, l want to look at this thought out loud.
Give me the news, I got a bad case of…
Oh my goodness!
I have displayed all the symptoms……
- distraction tactics
Is it contagious? Yes!
I am wired to worry and I think it sucks balls.
I feel at times I’m continuously in a push and pull to move forward to heal perceptions, feelings, emotions, and beliefs.
It is tireless work to create a new mindset, one less fraught with faulty reasoning.
I have come to realize you can never ensure 100% success of a new personal improvement plan.
And, you cannot predict the future with 100% assurance either.
The Sky is Increasing…. Being Busy Out Loud
Have you ever caught yourself running around like your hair is on fire
I was doing the most, dos mucho!
Plain and simple — unfocused busyness.
I admit it, I was doing just a lil too much…..research, stalling, doubting, perfecting, and worrying….
The list surely can go on.
Worry breeds fear of the unknown.
And fear can breed inaction.
My Invisible Boogeyman
We all have them big and small.
I had the dream of publishing on a writing platform called Medium.
And in my daydreaming this ambition, I fiddle-farted around and around and around.
I constructed a myriad of reasons for my failure to launch.
Quite honestly, I was scared sh*tless.
I was afraid I was not good enough.
It was like having Freddie Kruger as your BFF.
The Perceived Risky Endeavor
You see, the probability of success of a new personal improvement plan can increase when approached as a series of phases in a process.
The process is:
- investigate (a wide selection of potential change opportunities)
- set the change intention
- execute (practice)
Optimally, the actions put forth to implement the plan will increase the certainty of success.
All Bets Are Off – No Guarantees
Improvement with creativity is critical and one of the ways to achieve continuous growth and development.
A successful improvement plan will require focus and an iterative attention over the process to address issues and concerns in a proactive manner.
In this way, the maintenance and validation of the process can definitely augment the insurance of your success.
When my approach is proactive instead of reactive, I address issues and concerns more effectively.
In other words, I move toward solutions easily like a commitment to write on the Medium platform and doing it.
Essentially, it’s about continuous learning
- how to investigate
- what information to acquire
- when to execute the plan
- why maintenance is imperative (change management).
From my own experience, at the very beginning I start with:
- a search for trigger signs in the environment (my present life circumstances..)
- select strategies, alternatives, and execution (the how).
The most favorable consequence of this process is a realistic strategic plan for personal growth and development designed by you.
No Fluff, just Straight Getting IT!
Develop An Adaptable Perspective
I mentioned I have a propensity to over scrutinize myself, relationships, and my work.
I have also been known to overthink a time or two (a cough– bullsh*t).
Nevertheless, I continue to push towards progress in the best manner possible.
Sometimes simply, sometimes with a little difficulty.
I endeavor to engage and incorporate reflection and perspective shifts to vanquish my boogeyman.
My perspective has become flexible and adaptable.
In a practical manner, this means I examine my assumptions underlying my actions,
the impact of those actions,
and from a broader perspective, what may pass as a good application for me.
I do my best to practice conscious awareness and understanding, then execute decisions and actions.
Some More About This Personal Strategy Thing
It’s a simple process, Really.
Let me deepen this thought.
Consider this, your life is your environment and your business.
It is sensible and smart to assess your life and the wide range of environmental signals it contains, internally and externally.
These environmental signals carry extreme relevance to the prospective change plan.
The assessment is an aid to select tools and steps in the process to develop a good strategic fit for success.
The final actions are observe and manage the various stages of the change development.
Such as, when and where to stop projects and where and when to accelerate them.
In this manner, your plan becomes an adaptable, flexible, intentional commitment to growth.
Let Me Read Your Palm — The Knowledge Application
Possessing knowledge and ‘knowing’ is invaluable.
When decisions are a challenge and knowledge is difficult to acquire, to proceed forward is not determined by just information.
It is the knowing which will move you forward.
The process of deciding relevance regarding existing practical information.
The following actions then become timely – right time knowledge, for the right reasons, and with the proper emphasis.
The confidence gained from plan execution creates your voice.
It’s Time to believe what you can do and do it!
Come join me.
As always and with Mighty Love, I encourage you to be curious, question, and manage change like a boss!
So in parting……Be an Eagle, Not a Chikin.
