You may be saying “WHOA!” what does this mean? Isn’t this a no-brainer?
Change acceptance and movement; two very personal, everytime actions. I want to talk a bit about when change CREEPS up on you unexpectedly or maybe not so unexpectedly! Our last few conversations covered the what of managing change, and tools to assist in navigating the personal change process. Well, I must apologize because I was remiss. I am going to BACKSTROKE and TIGHTEN UP a little in this post.
You see, I was having a conversation with a friend about going through change, and she said “2” words that really hit home for me. I thought to myself these “2” words she mentioned are the actual actions that get you to moving in the direction of something different.…..acceptance and movement! Well, the two words and conversation got the thinking cap juices flowing. Here are some thoughts on these “2” very personal actions in the personal change process.
So, do you want the RED or BLUE PILL…
Think about it, adopting change involves altering human behavior to be accepting of change. There is a natural resistance to change for several reasons; new ideas, experiences, techniques, and adoption are not necessarily a naturally occurring incident. Nevertheless, work, trial and error, and experiences can present us with fabulous results.
Innovating or change your life is only successful through examining existing notions about the way things should be done and the subsequent change outcome. Be receptive to the change, evaluate new ideas objectively, and see your change results as what they could possibly be. BIG & BEAUTIFUL! Acceptance is you personally saying it is “OK” to think and feel what you think and feel when you think and feel it (Lillis, 2014). This was number #1, now on to #2
I have found from experience, it is important to recognize how the change can be controlled to achieve the HAPPINESS EFFECT. This brings us to the movement component. After acceptance, it is now time to move with and on this change through committed efforts. This is your participation to develop concise, readable, to the point information that assists in change success.
We are the skills developers – architects to our effective change process whenever instigated, there NO Virtual Reality Download! Oh, but here is the caveat, the change process is only successful because of your choices. You have to move with an understanding of your needs, limitations, and challenges as the primary person involved in this process.
Reflect on the stages of change, and see how to Craft your reactions and responses to the change. Understand and perceive this to mean “surrender” and “accept.”
You must reflect on the “who/what/where/when/why/how of your change process. This brings about ideas to achieve the optimal change results. I have come to learn this place of acceptance as very powerful. This is where you can make important behavior changes (Lillis, 2014).
We as humans will put forth much resistance to change, and understand these obstructions are not outside of us. We are our strongest resistor to change. Neo……the accepting of what IS bears no relation to passivity. It is really easy, you must desire to clearly see and discern the difference between passivity and courage.
Acceptance simply means treating yourself as whole and lacking NOTHING. You are taking yourself as is, acknowledging your worth, pursuing what matters in your life. Movement means taking charge of the change outcome because you can. MAKE IT SO!
As always my love bugs, from my heart, mind, and soul to yours, I encourage you to be curious and manage change like a BOSS!
Stay Golden! aamp
